Alpha Delta Kappa builds educational excellence, altruism and world understanding through fellowship.

International/State Projects

At the International level, Alpha Delta Kappa reaches out to others in two very significant ways.

First, through its International altruistic projects, ADK has made many contributions. A continuing project has been the donation of more than one million dollars to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and the 2013 International Convention delegates chose Alzheimer's Association in Chicago, Illinois as its second International altruistic project.

Secondly, Alpha Delta Kappa biennially awards over a quarter of a million dollars through its 11 scholarship programs. 

Pa Alpha Delta Kappa sponsors a scholarship and contributes to charities during each biennium.

World Understanding

Alpha Delta Kappa contributes to world understanding, goodwill and peace through an international fellowship of women educators united in the ideals of education.  Projects include:

 

International Teacher Education Program (ITE) - brings women students to the US for their final year of training. ADK has sponsored over 200 students from more than 60 countries.

2021-2023 International World Understanding Project: CHEAR - Making a Children's Home with Education and Agriculture a Reality in Tanzania. The Harambee Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Project's CHEAR'S mission is to empower disadvantaged children and youth in Babati, Tanzania through education. We are the only service of its kind in a region of 1.4 million. CHEAR will allow us to complete a 44 bed children's home and build a school with a library technology center.

Alpha Chapter Projects

Throughout the year, Alpha Chapter participates in various projects.  These have included gathering food for local food banks; supplying tissues for school classrooms; and collecting school supplies for homeless children.  Members have made blankets and stuffed bears for premies at a local hospital; blankets for children in foster care; and favors for Meals on Wheels.

Donating Money

Monetary Gifts given by Alpha Chapter

 

Alpha Chapter decides annually to give donations to various charities. The chapter has donated to The Longest Day, Bike Works of Allentown, Second Harvest / Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank, 6th Street Shelter, Equi-libruim, and Alliance Hall.

Time and Talent by Chapter Members

Alpha Chapter members volunteer in the name of ADK by working in hospitals or nursing homes; transporting people to doctors; completing errands for shut-ins; participating in cancer/heart drives; and tutoring.
